It was a dark, rainy night with the type of wind that cuts right through your clothes, pinches you with really cold fingers and says "coochie coochie coo!". Despite it all, twelve brave souls made their way to the Bluecorn restaurant, on the corner of Ackland and Barkley in St Kilda, for the chance to catch up with friends, enjoy the delicious mexican food, and drink margaritas the size of bird baths.

The Bluecorn

The night was Saturday, 28th May. We were banished to the enclosed outside eating area, which was probably a good thing given the noise level we maintained. We had an outdoor gas heater above our table to keep us warm. But during the evening one party member asked for it to be turned down because he was getting a bit of a tan. The waiter more than obliged by turning the thing completely off. Five minutes later, cold and shivering, we asked our dear beloved friend what he had been thinking. I won't reveal his name so as not to embarass him, but I will say he does bear an uncanny resemblance to the man in this photo:

The food was very well received and consumed quite quickly. The Bluecorn does some of the best mexican I have had in Melbourne, although on this particular night I thought that they weren't at their usual top form. The food was good, but way too spicy and took a bit long to make it's way from the kitchen. We had no complaints about the drinks though. I tell you those margaritas were friggin huge! The glasses they come in are like soup bowls on a stem. No kidding. I finished mine pretty quickly and was making a fool of myself in no time. Most of the others experienced similar symptoms :oD

As you can see, we took quite a few photos of ourselves. The flash was blinding, and the madman clicking them relentless. But we got some good ones in the end. Ah, memories. Enjoy.
